Over at 5 Minutes for Mom they are having a party - the link is on my sidebar.
I thought I'd just tell a bit about myself for those who venture this way via Party Central. First of all, welcome to Confirm the Work of Our Hands! My name is Shelley and I live on the east coast of Canada. I'm not a mom - shoot, I'm not even married! I'm a single gal in my late 30's (gasp!), but the party hosts said you don't have to be married, a mom, or even a woman to take part in this event; so, I signed up.
I'm currently going to university, although I graduated with my BA in Biblical Studies last April. This past year I've been taking a few "extra" courses as I concentrate on getting a certificate in the TESL program (which stands for Teaching English as a Second Language). I'm really enjoying it so far, but I know it won't be a piece of cake when I actually get out and teach! There will most definately be work involved - especially early on. My friend and I are thinking of going overseas somewhere (we haven't decided just where exactly yet) to teach. We thought it would be a good idea to go together because that way we'd know someone, and we wouldn't be totally alone in a foreign country.
I am a Christian, and rededicated my life to the Lord in 2000 (possibly the end of 1999). I say 'rededicated' because I honestly don't know if I had truely asked Jesus into my heart as a child or not. Anyway, since I didn't know for sure, I asked Jesus into my life after reading the Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Ok, it was as I was reading the third book that I did this - I just didn't want to be left behind if such a scenerio were to happen. Oh, I do believe that Jesus is coming back again, but I (and everyone else) don't know just what is going to happen, other than it's not going to be so nice at that time...
I have two other blogs: Ink Scrawls, which is my writing blog, and Kitten Knits Yarn, which is my knitting blog. Feel free to check them out and leave a note there as well!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by. I look forward to meeting some new bloggers via this party (and reacquaint myself with others). Thanks for stopping by, and God bless!

Hi Shelley. Nice introduction!
Thanks for dropping by my party, it was nice to meet you.
Blessings! And thanks for being willing to participate even though you aren't a mom. It's good to be inclusive!
Wow! Gorgeous blog! So nice to meet you.
Just stopping by via the party. I think it's wonderful that you rededictated your life to the Lord.
Hi Shelley! Wandered in from Mr. Linky and wanted to say that I currently teach English as a Second Language in Italy, and I love it--so long as you have motivated students, it's going to be a blast :)
I have to admit I felt a little weird joining as well...it's definately a mom dominated party! Glad you came though :)
Hi there! I'm here with the Blog Party! It's great to see so many Christian women on here. Drop by my blog if you can.
Shelley,it was good to "hear" from you again. You left a comment on my Kidbits blog. I would love to do what you're setting out to do: TESL. Blessings to you as you seek God on where He'll have you go (or stay).
Hi Shelley,
I actually found your blog via CWO. It nice to met another single Christian woman, sometimes I feel like the only one! Congrats on getting your BA in biblical studies. I think it would be really cool to be able to teach overseas and I wish a lot of luck with that. Be Blessed..
Nice to "meet" you, Shelley! I'm stopping by from the party. :)
