Dream A Little Dream

The last two chapters I've read in my Bible (Genesis 40 and 41) in my daily reading involved Joseph interpreting dreams. In chapter 40, it was the dreams of Pharoah's cupbearer and baker; chapter 41 was Pharoah's own dreams.

I don't know if I have mentioned in this blog before, but I have been keeping a Dream Journal of sorts since the beginning of the year. At that time, in my small group (Bible study), we were discussing the book of Daniel. One of the leaders asked a question at the beginning of one session (a sort of ice breaker), if anyone could remember their dreams.

I had indicated that I used to dream vividly, and could remember all sorts of details - colours, people, descriptions, etc. It was then that Pastor J asked if I wrote down my dreams, and that if I didn't then I should. So, I began recording them. I don't always remember, and sometimes don't have time to record them, but I try to.

Can I interpret dreams? Nope, not at all. However, maybe someone can (or maybe God will gift me with the ability at some point). Pastor J said it's a good way to see any "trends" or "themes" in dreams, something that might help indicate that God is speaking to me through dreams - or something like that. I can't recall his exact words.

I've been seeing themes appear, but I don't know what any of the interpretations could be. Even if I never find out, this journal makes for somewhat interesting reading at times - I've had some pretty crazy dreams!

Do you dream? Do you record them? Can you interpret dreams?

I do dream, but I don't usually record them. I have recurring dreams - one lately I've had is that my youngest daughter (3) has learned the F-word and is using it all the time and I'm trying to figure out where she learned it. If I had to hazard a guess, I would guess that it's about being a good example and modeling the behavior I want my daughters to have.

But, I'm not that great at interpreting dreams at all!

That would certainly be horrifying if she did start using that word!

I remember a friend of mine from work, years ago, said when her daughter was about that age that she did start using that word. Her and her husband were sitting in the livingroom watching TV, and their daughter was there putting a puzzle together. She couldn't get a piece to fit, so she threw it across the room and yelled out "F****** piece!" They learned that day they had to watch what they said around her because she had learned it from them.
I dream, but they are often so weird that I can't make any sense of them. And other times I can't remember them at all. Oh well.

I've had some pretty weird dreams myself. I've even dreamed in cartoon! I was real, but the rest of the dream was cartoon - one had the Flintstones in it, and another had Scooby Doo & the gang in it!
I jhave in the past...recently do not (write them down). I do think the mind has many stresses to release safely in dreams, so I don't hold too much to them. My overall theme is most always...on a quest, looking for something (I never find it...) sometimes don't even know in the dream what I'm looking for (?) I think it's an interesting topic! One reoccuring dream is I'm on an elevator and when it stops and the doors open...I'm never equal to the floor to walk onto (usually below it)...
