In Memory...

In Memory of Our Veterans (click the title of the poem to learn more about Lt. Col. John McCrae, MD)

In Flanders Fields

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

So many young men gave so much for the freedom that we have today. I will forever be thankful for their service and all that they gave.

Thank you, Shelley, for this tribute.

So many lost their freedom for our freedom. Ironic really. Those that construct war ... and never place themselves in the killing fields.
Peace and hope to you all.
It is a beautiful poem that gives us poignant moment of thought. :o(
Yet, within our hopes and works perhaps we can make this a better world for all to live in harmony and love.
